Amish Living

I went to Lancaster, Pennsylvania with my daddy and we had a great time. As we were there I asked my daddy if we could go to the Amish country and we did. At the Amish country there was a food store, a one room schoolhouse, a blacksmith shop, farm, and an old Amish house.

I had a great time there. That was one of the coolest things I have ever done.

I saw a lot of horse and buggies on the road with an orange sign on the back. And in the old Amish house I saw the wash-machine that was powered by a gasoline motor, which I thought was cool. They power tools and kitchen appliances by air. Of everything, my favorite part of the tour was the one room schoolhouse although I could not imagine myself in just a one-room school. I think it would just get a little crowded. In fact I think they don’t even get recess. I could not live with that because when I was in school that was my favorite part of the day (I am presently being home schooled now).

My daddy’s favorite part was the old Amish house. A regular Amish house wall paint is only earthly colors like baby blue, green, and beige.    And our second favorite part was the farm. We saw all kinds of animals like pigs, chickens, roosters, cows, miniature horses, and peacocks. And we even met an Amish lady. And the nine and a half hours it took to get to Pennsylvania it was all worth it. And plus I got to spend some time with my daddy.

I really loved the trip.

P.S. Amish people are of German heritage, and are very religious.

I left Lancaster with a lot of admiration for them and I respect them very much.

And this is my Amish story.

70 fans.
I'm glad you got to meet the Amish people. My wife and I travelled to Lancaster County a few years ago and thought the Amish culture was fascinating. We can always learn something from other cultures.
